Miguel Ángel emigrated to Spain from Argentina, 3 years ago, currently living in Torremolinos (Malaga). Of the 5 beneficiaries who participated in the BUSThink project from Malaga, Miguel Ángel was the one who was most advanced in the development of his business, since the other 4 beneficiaries started from an initial idea of value proposition that they then refined.

Due to his great skill in the handling and molding of resins, acquired during several years making prostheses for patients in hospitals in Argentina, he perfected himself in the realization of works with epoxy resin. Currently, she has a small workshop where she does all kinds of work with this material, from furniture recycling, to the elaboration of decorative elements and displays for cold food.

Although he had already begun to develop his business, his participation in the BUSThink project allowed him to review his value proposition and focus on developing a business plan that focused on a few business units, selecting those that were most profitable and that he could initially address, in order to obtain greater productivity from the resources he has and avoiding being dispersed in the various possibilities offered by epoxy resin.

From the workshop in Modena, and with the successive mentoring sessions, Miguel Ángel managed to define an initial value proposition, focus on a few customer-target segments and plan the necessary steps to be taken to grow his business. Among the main elements of your business plan we can mention:

  • Value Proposition: Development, innovation and recycling of furniture and designs in resins. Small custom-made furniture made with recycled materials.

  • Market segments:

    • People who want to redesign a property, such as applying epoxy resin to the floor or making a countertop or improving a bathroom.

    • People who want to revalue an object or recycle a piece of furniture.

People who want to decorate their home with unique objects (river table, doors or a particular piece of furniture).

    • Decoration shops.

    • Restaurants, catering companies, pastry shops, hotels, both in building installations, applying it to floors given its fireproof and antibacterial qualities as they do not have joints, and for the display of cold products.

  • Planned key activities:

    • Design and customization of decorative objects.

    • Co-creation with the client.

    • Furniture repair and recycling.

    • Application of resins on floors, walls and countertops.

  • Plan to make key partnerships with::

    • Interior designers.

    • Architecture Studies.

    • Construction companies.

    • Suppliers of recycled materials.

    • Suppliers of materials and supplies.

As for the application of the principles of Design Thinking incorporated into the BUSTHink model, Miguel Ángel has the prototyping phase very much incorporated, since he is continuously making new samples and collecting used furniture to recycle and beautify it by applying resins. As for the testing phase, it continuously seeks continuous improvement, validating its samples with potential customers and professionals in the sector.

Regarding his experience in the BUSThink project, Miguel Ángel said "I have to take my hat off to those who have done it, because they have opened my mind in a certain way at a business level, which I did not see before".
